Response To Intervention or RTI can be defined as a process of academic intervention that has been introduced in the United States for providing early and effective assistance to kids who face difficulty in the normal learning procedure. Response to intervention also functions as a data dependent method for diagnosing the various learning disabilities. This process can be employed at both individual and group levels.Description of RTI
Researchers have developed an ability-achievement discrepancy model which helps in the formative evaluation and identification of the learning disabilities in children. Along with this model, certain standardized tests are done which help in revealing the severe discrepancy between the academic achievement and IQ level of a child. This method, along with the Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA, 2004), also throws light on that category of children who display Specific Learning Disability (SLD). The SLD is formed by the residual category for kids who display moderate problems in learning. |
